Meaning (from PCM Book 1)

O Velayudha (Muruha)! I have worshipped you with devotion and sung your praises. You are the embodiment of great qualities who resides on the hills of Viralimalai. Please grant me salvation.

Pedagogical Note

Tiruppuhazh is a unique genre — it uses a meter-based (chhanda) tala rather than a standard Carnatic tala. This is an advanced concept that bridges Carnatic music and Tamil classical poetry.
