Vātāpi Gaṇapatim bhajē

Meaning (from PCM Book 1)

I worship Lord Ganesha of Vatapi (Badami). He is the son of Parvati and Shiva, the destroyer of obstacles, the bestower of boons. He is worshipped by Brahma, Vishnu and Indra.

Pedagogical Note

This is the famous Muthuswami Dikshitar kriti in Mohanam. Mohanam is a pentatonic raga (audava-audava) — one of the most popular ragas in Carnatic music.
