About this Raga

Pantuvarali is a deeply moving, heavy raga of the Vivadi family. It is essentially the same scale as Varali (Mela 39) but derived from Shubhapantuvarali (Mela 45). The characteristic G₁ R₁ G₁ oscillation gives it its haunting, introspective quality. Evokes Karuna (pathos) and Bhakti (devotion).
