Focus on M and P
Ma and Pa — the fourth and fifth
Focuses on M1 (Shuddha Madhyama) and P (Panchama). The karvai falls on M and P. M1 is the pure fourth — a stable, grounding note. P is the fifth — the most consonant interval after the octave. Together, M and P form the 'spine' of the raga. This varisai develops the student's ability to sustain the middle range of the scale.
Karvai on M and P. Pattern: 1-2-3-4(hold)-1-2-3-4(hold)-5-6-7-8.
