About this Raga

Pūrṇalaliṭa is an extremely rare and scholarly raga belonging to the 39th Melakarta (Jhaṅkāradhvani). It features the very low, almost vivadi sounding G₁ and N₁. The omission of the Dhaivatam and Nishadam in the ascent makes the transition from Panchamam directly to the Upper Shadjam very stark. The raga has a vintage, slightly archaic feel and requires precise intonation.
